Facilitator - Grandparent Open Play

At the YMCA of Moose Jaw, volunteers are an essential part of our team and not only contribute to the overall success of our Association, but allow us to deliver quality programs and services to all ages and abilities within our Community.  Our inclusive and friendly atmosphere creates a safe place to develop skills, make friends and become part of the YMCA family.  Volunteer with us today and dare to be a difference maker! 

Being the primary caregiver of grandchildren is a unique and challenging time for many grandparents within our community.  The grandparent open play facilitator will provide a link for others in similar situations to connect, share stories and bond through experiences. 

Location: Early Years Family Resource Centre 

Working with: 0-5 children and primary grandparent caregivers 

Schedule:  As determined 

Responsibilities & Abilities: 

  • Be friendly and welcoming 
  • Provide general information regarding the Early Years Family Resource Centres 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Ability to multi-task 

Optional Responsibilities: 

  • Help support special events

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Be the primary caregiver of grandchildren 
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check 
  • Successful interview 
  • A minimum of 2 professional references 
  • Completion of the YMCA Child Protection Training 
  • Must commit to a minimum of 1 shift per week.

  • Welcoming: Treats everybody in a friendly and respectful manner and creates a pleasant, user-friendly atmosphere 

Skill Development: 

  • Gain experience working with community members 
  • Time management and problem solving skills
